Friday's Five Scribes
Five blogposts published this week by fellow Scribers on the The Daily Scribe
1. Radical Torah: Lebanon through the Lens of Tisha B’Av Given the news events of recent weeks I found this a powerfully moving post, if only for the comment ‘just because we have a hammer, doesn’t mean everything is a nail’. Fascinating also for a Christian with a theological passion for the Old Testament (as we call it), to learn how the Jews interpret it.
2. World of Your Making: Rick Lord gives us a glimpse into his work of sermon preparation and his meditations on the transfiguration of Jesus in Glimpses of Reality.
3. Making Chutney: Chutney made me laugh, ruefully, with his reflections on 28 Things They Won’t Teach You at Seminary. Memories!
4. nathancolquhoun.com: Nathan calls for a redefinition of ‘the poor’ in The Kingdom:What Does Poor Even Mean?. As someone who works in what is officially one of the poorest communities in the United Kingdom, this was challenging.
5. Never Say Never: I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry at Hafidha’s post The Worship Show, but I understood. The issue is serious and painful, but the image of an auditorium of Unitarian Universalists doing the conga is priceless!
So much that’s so good. If you have an interest in religious blogging check out the Scribe.
