A Forgotten Memorial – Communion

Notice in Mark’s account of the Last Supper there is no ‘do this in remembrance of me’ (v22-25).

These words have already been spoken in relation to the commendation of the woman (v9).

Is this because her act of discipleship is the completion of communion?

What was true in the consideration of Jesus and the religious leaders and their attitude to the Feast is true also for us.

The ritual of communion in and of itself is incomplete if it is not completed by acts of discipleship and sacrifice.

The communion table is the call and our acts of sacrificial obedience are the response.
